The owners of a restaurant in Studio City, California, found themselves in some memorable situations with Andre The Giant and their expert guard dogs. On both occasions, these well-trained protectors were so intimidated by Andre that they shied away in fear of him, their tails tucked between their legs. When asked about it, Andre chuckled and said, "Boss, it was so funny. Dogs often react to me that way if they don't know me, but these two dogs were supposed to be so mean. So vicious. One was a German shepherd and one was a Doberman. Both times I was asked to stand still while the owner brought the dog in, and both times the dog got one look at me and ran the other way as fast as he could go.
